Immediately after the first idea for the sound art piece, I got another one.
FISH’S NIGHT SONG

The Fish’s Night Song is a visual poem written by Christian Morgenstern in 1905, that consists of little curves and lines. Like this:
I think it has a distinct sound. I could try and create it!

In high school we had a performance of the poem, where we made bubbly sounds. It was great fun.

At school I got a third idea.
CONFLICT BETWEEN SOUND AND SIGHT

It could be fun to create a piece with mismatching images and audio.

I’m kind of stuck between these three ideas.
Should I just get a move on and see what happens?

We have a Sound Creativity workshop by Dave Lawrence. We’re supposed to create sound art.

I am a synesthetic.

Many sounds, especially music, evoke a strong feeling of colour, shapes and/or movement in me. About 20% of all synesthetics experience something similar.

The exact reason for this phenomenon is not known, but it is believed to have something to do with excessive neural connections.
The sound of a violin is purple.
(IT’S HARD TO DRAW A VIOLIN!)

Excessive neural connections… Doesn’t sound too good.
OH YES IT DOES! I’M A SUPER HEROOOOOOOO

It was surprisingly hard to explain how it actually feels.

It is more like a sensation of a colour or a movement.

Oh yeah, the sound art piece… I t could be quite fun to see what kinds of sounds can I create with everyday objects, like a coffee machine. And then turn those sounds into drawings or paintings.

And then make people guess which image connects with which sound! HAHA!
